Friends 11:51 am

those are lyrics to a great song called “God of Justice” by Tim Hughes.
(iTunes it…actually, go ahead and get the whole album. good stuff.)

our good friend Lindsey

and her team from Dalton UMC are going to Huancayo, Peru today to begin a 10 day medical mission trip. the team’s made up of doctors, dentists, and…you know…other people who love Jesus. :) it’s an 8 hour flight from Atlanta, followed by a 6-hour bus ride, and we’d appreciate that you pray for their safety. Also pray that people are introduced to Jesus because of the hard work of these missionaries determined to be His hands and feet!

i love how Psalms mentions the nations so frequently…it reminds me how big God is and how His heart is for all of his children…Christianity is not American, though it seems that the media would like to relegate it to the confinement of a couple of countries…

that center graphic would be stretched across two 42″ LCDs.
outside screens are for motion graphics and lyrics.

i’m thinking return of the spandex. with new gobos.

my friend david turns the big 3-1 today. happy birthday, david!
it’s hard to believe 10 years have passed since this rockin picture:

ha ha that’s what happens when you’re a youth pastor and a bunch of 16-year-olds make a birthday cake. :D
we must have been high on food coloring.
good times.

what’s cool is when you get to do life with someone for so long that you know they really are who they claim to be. it’s easy to back a vision when you trust the authenticity of the visionary. thanks for being a role model for practically half of my life…

Worship Design, Doing ChurchJanuary 27, 2008 11:20 pm

it was another good day at The Vine. after several hours saturday night and sunday morning, we successfully knocked-off narnia and the worship center returned. the message was Resolution: Fitness, and this cracked me up:

after restoring narnia i visited buckhead church to see how carlos and his boys do church. it was awesome. i was a little intimidated about going down there seeing as buckhead traffic is nuts, but they had cops and an awesome parking lot team and it was not a big deal at all. if i’d known it would be that easy i would have gone a year ago! thanks to Lindsay for meeting me at the top of the escalator and saving me a seat! the music was great, the environment was chill, the people were nice, the store was extremely cool, and andy looked real. that was the craziest part. oh…and they have a real baptismal pool, inside. i love watching people get baptized! what a glorious day in their lives…it gives me chills everytime. yes, they have fun pricey items like smartlights and cool sound paneling, but my favorite thing is the simplicity of their services. no churchy junk. worship, message, peace out.

the take away? INVITE someone to church. specific time, specific place. for example, “will you meet me next Sunday at 10:55am in the parking lot? i’ll help you take your kids where they need to go.” don’t inform people about your church. generalizations like “hey, you should check out my church sometime” don’t work. specific time, specific place. and the next time you watch a baptism it could be someone you know!
:)
night kids.

welcome to the blogosphere.

Randomness 12:05 pm

I totally ripped this idea from tonymorganlive.com,
but it’s fun. And taggable! Morgan, Katie, Heather T. and Leah… you’re it.

stuff i’m pretty sure we won’t find in heaven…
Green Peppers,
Commercials on Radio Stations,
Dental Offices (I was going to say Dentists, but I hate the work, not the workers…)
Spiders, Cockroaches, Silverfish, or anything with remote similarities,
Clothes that need ironing,
Sponge Bob,
Onions in Guacamole,
Drivers going 35 in a 55,
Ultimate Fighting,
Unfresh M&Ms,
Squirrels who can’t stay in their designated areas,
Poor cell phone connections,
Debit machines with signs on them that say, “Sorry, cash only!”
And community (germ…i mean, hand) towels in kitchens or bathrooms.
Surely in heaven the paper products are plentiful and they recycle themselves.

Authenticity 11:47 am

i just caught myself singing High School Musical out loud…by myself…while making cookies, and this morning i caught myself watching That’s So Raven…by myself…while rocking Tanner to sleep. i’ve GOT to start hanging out with people older than 8!
