1. You haven’t lived until you’ve seen Tanner and her Daddy “dance” to High School Musical. Goodness.
2. I’m 3/4 the way done with Tim’s book, and it’s GREAT! I’m so humbled and excited to be reading it…it’s seriously the coolest thing that’s happened to me since I won a year’s supply of M&M’s when I was in the 9th grade.
3. Once of my favorite discussions in Tim’s book is about using parables (stories from everyday life) out of cultural media (movies, music, TV, internet) to display biblical truths. The goal is to take cultural elements that are already popular and leverage them for Christ by giving them new meaning…spiritual meaning. To find these illustrations in culture, we need to be constantly looking for God while we do life.
Where have you seen God in culture lately?

good question….I need to start paying more attention.

where you would least expect it…in a lesson in the public school. Hailey’s substitute taught the class the TRUE meaning of Christmas….. according to scripture… with examples I might add.

Let’s take a detour from culture and look at nature. As the snow fell, we enjoyed watching the birds in our backyard, blue birds, cardinals, woodpeckers, wrens, finches, etc. There they were eating and hopping around as we were all warm inside our home. I think of Luke 12:24 when Jesus said to consider the ravens. They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them., and how much more valuable you are than birds! Praise God for his provision.

I spent the weekend on a men’s retreat in Toccoa. I saw God at work in culture when barriers that keep men from embracing Christ and His attitude where discussed and broken down. This occured from 18 year olds to guys in their 70s. It was awesome and a reminder of what a willing spirit can do. Thanks for the question. Your blog really does rock!
